It may be a bit of a mouthful but welcome to the archaeo-travelo-cycling-cooking man blog. What, I hear you ask, is archaeo-travelo-cycling-cooking man? Good question.
I’ve wanted to blog for ages but have never been able to settle on a theme, let alone a name. So, as I’m wont to do, I wrote a list of topics I thought I’d like to write about- the top four (yes, there were more): archaeology, travel, cycling and cooking. Unable to decide any further, I came up with my snappy blog title. What I realised I really wanted to get out of this was to simply enjoy my writing. My aim is to write without constraints – my day job includes a lot of academic and report writing – and about anything which sparks an interest. So, what to expect?
I’m an archaeologist who loves to travel and visit new places both close to home and abroad. This will, no doubt, form the core of my posts, sharing the places I’ve visited and my thoughts about them, and some tips for anyone visiting themselves. I also love to cycle and, even if I do say so myself, am a pretty good cook so expect the odd post about bikes or recipes to creep in now and then. As a man somewhere around middle age I can see some reflections on life, where it’s taken me and so on. There’ll be an Instagram account linked to the blog. Right, I’d actually like to just get on with it! Like anything, I’m sure some will work and some won’t, I’ll find out along the way. It’s a bit of fun which I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I will.
